General course questions
How long in advance do you take bookings for in-person training?
We usually book between 1 and 3 months in advance, but I’ve had bookings for next week and if I can I will help.
Will you deliver training in our premises?
Yes, training is often much better presented in your building using your equipment. That way your staff get real, hands-on training using the equipment they are going to use in their daily jobs.
Will I get a certificate after my training?
Yes, we offer certificates of attendance and completion for every course we run.
Do you provide equipment for your training classes?
We don’t own a lot of specific equipment for training as we find most people either want to learn on their own equipment or they have different requirements each time. We do have an excellent relationship with a number of rental companies who will loan us equipment at a very good rate if it’s needed for a course.
About me and my courses
What’s the furthest you’ve travelled for training?
So far, Japan, for one of my clients. I’m happy to travel anywhere to provide courses, as long as my travel expenses are covered of course.
How do you cope with teaching so many different courses?
I keep meticulous notes for every course I write, so I follow them when teaching. They say to really know something, try teaching it to someone else. I find once I’ve taught something a few times, it’s like riding a bike, it comes back to you very quickly when you get into the classroom.
Is there any conflict with you working with multiple manufacturers?
No, in fact I see it as one of our strengths. We have experience with a variety of lighting and video systems, and we pride ourselves on being an agnostic training provider. Knowing multiple systems helps me understand more clients, especially when they are moving from one platform to another.

I’ve never used a network before, will I be ok on the Introduction to Networks course?
Yes, absolutely, this course is designed for you. We cover basic concepts from the very beginning.
I already run some training courses for my company, will the trainer skills workshop be of any use?
Yes, there’s always something new to learn. I’m always learning myself, always improving and changing my courses as I learn new things. The Trainer Skills Workshop summarises over 25 years of training experience into one day of concise and useful information, ideas and tips to make your training better.
I've used grandMA2 before, can you convert me to grandMA3?
Absolutely, in fact we do it all the time. We can teach you all the new features of the grandMA3 system, without boring you by reteaching you the concepts you already learnt in your grandMA2 training.
